Candidate for Deputy Chair
Daniel Bryk
United Leadership, Stronger Community
Who I Am
I am married to Michelle Woolf Bryk, and together we are raising a blended family of five wonderful children—three from her first marriage and two from my first marriage—aged between 14 and 22. The two youngest currently attend Yavneh College, where I have been involved in the school’s security team, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all. We have built a blended family rooted in strong Jewish values, and I bring that same strength, unity, and commitment to the wider community.
For the past five years, I have been dedicated to supporting the community's safety, with the last three years serving as Security Officer for Croxdale. Many of you will recognise me from the front gate, where I greet members each week with a warm welcome while ensuring our space remains protected. My role has involved working closely with a wide range of individuals, implementing important changes, managing sensitive situations, and resolving conflicts. I am known for being honest and direct—even when the truth is uncomfortable—because I believe transparency and integrity are vital to leadership.

Why vote for me?
I am standing to champion a future for our community that blends heartfelt care with clear, strategic leadership. By uniting the best of past efforts with fresh thinking, I will support the existing management team in delivering a stronger community that is inclusive, resilient, and forward-looking.
My Vision
I believe passionately in a community that is:
Warm, welcoming, inclusive, and caring
A hub of Jewish life—supporting spiritual, educational, and social needs
United across all demographics and age groups including but not limited to singles, couples, families, youth, elderly, and vulnerable individuals
Together, we will:
Retain and attract members from all backgrounds—Regardless of their observance, we are one religion with different outlooks but together we make a community,
Ensure our community is more than a congregation: a genuine network of mutual support in both good and hard times
Create a physical and cultural space that reflects our values, aspirations, and the economic realities we face
Track Record and Plans
Building on the strong foundations laid by Josh Moont and the current senior management team, I will work together to support and focus on:
Community Support & Welfare
Support for the economically disadvantaged: school lunches, food parcels, mobility help
Expand wellbeing initiatives: befriending the lonely and bereaved, elderly tea parties
Enhance youth through summer camps and targeted programming
Education & Leadership
Develop strong educational offerings for children, youth and adults
Invest in training for Shul employees to improve skills and customer care
Link up with the local community via apprenticeship schemes and T-Levels to expand the team in the office
New Building, Strong Roots
Prioritise redevelopment to create a hub for local Jewish life, not just bricks and mortar
Avoid costly delays while ensuring the new site reflects financial and communal needs
Invest in youth leadership: enhancing our outstanding team, supported by youth and educational leaders, as well as reviewing the possibility of a youth couple
Engagement and Inclusion
Engage with the accessibility needs of the community, such as hearing loops and quiet areas. Ensure both sites are accessible, accommodating all needs.
Promote inclusive, cross-sector events like Purim, Simchat Torah, and children’s services
Ensure all members—new or long-standing- feel valued and heard
Sustainability and Membership
Find creative ways to reduce membership fees while enhancing value and removing the burden on the community
Encourage youth and children to take active roles in Shul life
Explore ways to draw on the talents of all members, without hierarchy or ego
My Approach
I will lead by listening, consulting, and working collaboratively with the existing teams on both sites. My goal is to help bring about the necessary changes by drawing on proven successes and introducing fresh ideas. This is a team effort, and I will work hard to deliver the leadership our Shul needs—measured, compassionate, and forward-looking.
